Pretty Little Bio
Heather McElhatton (MACKLE-hatton) is a writer living much
like nomadic capitalist in various cities and countries around
the world. She often surfaces in Duluth, Minnesota and Key
West Florida. Theses places have more in common than you'd
think.

Heather's first novel was a
choose-your-own-adventure
book for adults called
"Pretty Little Mistakes."

With over 150 endings, she
needed an advanced system
to track all the threads
and so used scrap linoleum
and markers.

Heather has been
an
independent producer
for Public Radio International
for longer than she cares to
fess up to
. Her commentaries
and stories have been heard
nationally on This American
Life, Marketplace,Weekend
America, Sound Money and
The Savvy Traveler.

She also produced the radio
literary series Talking Volumes.

Highlights from these years were working with the divine
Katherine Lanpher and regularly dining with celeb-lit-ies,
such as Salman Rushdie, who (when asked if Heather should
really include so much sex in her writing,) replied "Heather,
push on the open door."

H
eather has had several short stories published, including
“Red Shoes”
which was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in
2001.  Writer/publishe
r Joyce Carol Oates published the story
in
Princeton’s literary magazine, The Ontario Review that
same year.

Besides ongoing reporting and radio commentary, Heather
appeared on Ira Glass’s very first episode of the television
version of This American Life.

Harper Collins also published Heather McElhattons dark
romantic comedy, "Jennifer Johnson is Sick of Being Single,"
released May 5, 2009.

Her second do-over novel, "Million Little Mistakes," released
in fall, 2010. The book is dedicated to her pug,
Walter who
was hit by a car in 2009, but decided to live anyway and now
wears a shoe. He has a far bigger following than Heather does.
